Dream Reads

I know the classes have already shared our exciting news… here is a little more detail for the grown ups!

At CKIS we want to instil a love of reading in all children.

We want all children to be exposed to a wide range of the best children's literature available. Our year group teams have carefully selected a range of books that offer wonderful reading experiences. (There are so many amazing books out there, we could have gone on forever – but we had to stop somewhere!)

Our wonderful PFA have supported us by buying a range of these titles for the children to share, both in school and at home.

Children will have access to our ‘Dream Reads’ during ERIC time in class and can bring the books home to share with you! This could be as a bedtime story or, as the children progress through school, they will read them themselves.

Each child has a list of our ‘Dream Reads’ books in their book bag. Please keep this at home. Some children may want to take up the challenge of reading all the books over the course of the year. Some children may find one or two favourites on the list that they want to read over and over again. They could discover new authors and be encouraged to read more of their work. Copies of the year group dream read lists can be found at the bottom of this page.

This list is not intended to be a competition or a race to the finish – the Dream Reads are here to encourage children to enjoy a wide range of books and for them to find what they love about reading!

If you have any questions about this exciting new opportunity, please contact your class teacher via SeeSaw.
