Charlton Kings Infants' School

British Values

British Values Statement

At Charlton Kings Infants’ School we take very seriously our responsibility to prepare children for life in modern Britain. We ensure that the fundamental British Values are introduced, discussed and lived out through the ethos and work of the school. All curriculum areas provide a vehicle for further understanding of these concepts and, in particular, our RE, PSHE and Citizenship lessons provide excellent opportunities to deepen and develop understanding. Children embrace these concepts with enthusiasm and demonstrate a good understanding of their application to their own lives.

We have reviewed our core School and British Values and have agreed the following themes:

Term 1

Our Community - ‘I belong’

Term 2

Responsibility - ‘Making choices’

Term 3

Acceptance and Difference - ‘We are all special’

Term 4

Respect and Tolerance – ‘It’s ok to be different’

Term 5

Kindness – ‘Being kind’

Term 6

‘Free to be me’

Each Friday we hold a celebration assembly where children and members of staff who have demonstrated these values are awarded a certificate.
